Welcome to the Republic of Comedy

Republic of Comedy is an independent, sovereign state of mind. We celebrate standup comedy as the beautiful art form it is.

Portugal’s first international comedy club is owned and run by comedians. We are based in the historic Xafarix bar in Santos and produce shows across Lisbon, bringing local performers and visiting acts together in front of an international audience.

What we programme

Our calendar includes English-language open mics, new-material nights, recurring showcases, independent productions, and touring solo shows. Some nights are pay what you want, while others use advance tickets through the provider linked on the event page. How we work
