About This Show
Two Irish comedians. One Friday night in Lisbon. Republic of Comedy presents Brendan Hickey and John O’Keeffe for an evening of standup in English: failed philosophy, Catholic guilt and the everyday business of trying to get your life together.
Brendan Hickey
Irish to a fault, Brendan Hickey has been performing in the Berlin scene for over 10 years. He is the co-founder of Epic Comedy Berlin. His comedy style blends the musings of a failed philosopher with the repressed anger of a failed Catholic. The result is a hilarious and always original style that has made audiences split sides in Berlin and throughout Europe.
John O’Keeffe
John has established himself as one of the most exciting stand-ups emerging in the Irish comedy scene. Winner of the “Best New Act” Award at the 2019 Bray Comedy Festival, and praised for his likeability, comedy writing and stage presence, he has performed with top comedians such as Michelle Wolf, Joanne McNally, David O’Doherty and Neil Delamere. He opened for Steve Hofstetter on his 2024 European tour.
His comedy is personal and upbeat, sometimes dark, with honest stories and plenty of Irish sarcasm.

What People Say
"Great spot to listen to some English language comedy. The owner and host is very interactive and funny. Love the place and will definitely be back. And highly recommend to anyone who's a fan of stand up."
"Great comedy club, intimate, and highly entertaining. This Lisbon gem should be a staple of the nightlife as it is a fantastic venue and the artists have been very good on our visits. Highly recommend!"
"I had loads of fun at their Friday night show. The venue is very cool, ran by and for comedians. This is a no brainer if you are solo travelling as the bar staff look after you and comedy is a great ice breaker when meeting people."
"I have been here twice now, and really enjoyed the experience both times. If you are looking for diverse, multicultural comedy all in English in Lisbon, this is the place! There is also a secretive speakeasy vibe to the bar and its entrance which is a really nice touch."
